Specialty Cakes

A Bit of History
My mother decorated cakes back in the
60's and 70's.  I remember watching her
decorate and showing me how to make a
buttercream rose.  Mostly it was fun eating
the cake scraps and tasting frosting. I never
dreamed so many years later I would be
following in her footsteps.  My beautiful
mom is gone now but she was there to see
my cakes in the beginning and she was
very proud of me.  Each cake I make I
always ask for her guidance and each one
is dedicated to her.
How I Got Started
As the mother of two small children, it seemed that there was always a need for
cupcakes, either for birthdays or school parties.  Wanting to make them a little
more special I began taking the Wilton Cake Courses in 1999.  The decorating
came easy to me and I was soon hooked.  I love my cake hobby and enjoy
making cakes for friends and family.
I love you Mom and I miss you...
Cake Design
Much of my inspiration comes from images I've found on the Internet or other
cake websites, but I will often combine ideas from two or more cakes, making
changes here and there, to ensure my cakes are extra special and memorable.

Many thanks to all who have inspired me!

Making Cakes
I like to think my cakes are extra special and for extra-special occasions.  A lot of
hours and hard work goes into each one, but I enjoy adding those extra touches
to get it just right.  When people find out that I make cakes they always ask me
if I've seen the show Ace of Cakes, I tell them yes but I'm not a welder! I am
more of a traditional cake maker so I don't cover my cakes in fondant, but I do
use it for decoration and accents.  My favorite website is CakeCentral.com; a
fantastic place where other cake artists like myself can go for a multitude of
ideas and advice...not to mention a place to post our cake photos and show off
a little!
