Cakes by Laura...
"Let me create a memorable cake for your special occasion!"
I love the art of buttercream!
A Bit of History
My mother ran a cake business out of our
home back in the 60's and 70's.  I
remember watching her decorate and
showing me how to make a buttercream
rose.  Mostly it was fun eating the cake
scraps and tasting frosting. I never
dreamed so many years later I would be
following in her footsteps.  My beautiful
mom is gone now but she was there to see
my cakes in the beginning and she was
very proud of me.  Each cake I make I
always ask for her guidance and each one
is dedicated to her.
How I Got Started
As the mother of two small children, it seemed that there was always a need for
cupcakes, either for birthdays or school parties.  Wanting to make them a little
more special I began taking the Wilton Cake Courses in 1999.  The decorating
came easy to me and I was hooked.  I soon found myself an avid cake hobbyist!
I love you Mom and I miss you...
Your Cake Design
You may already have an idea of what you want.  Perhaps you have a picture or
theme in mind.  Whatever the case, I will work with you in designing your cake
and we can even work out most of the details via e-mail too.

Much of my inspiration comes from images I've found on the Internet or other
cake websites, but I will often combine ideas from two or more cakes, making
changes here and there, to ensure that your cake is extra special and memorable.
My customers have been very pleased with their cakes in both design and taste.

Many thanks to all who have inspired me!

Making Cakes
I like to think my cakes are extra special and for extra special occasions.  You
may not find cakes like mine at the market, Costco or even some bakeries. A lot
of hard work goes into each one but I enjoy adding those extra touches to get it
just right...like using pretzel rods for arms, ice cream cones for  castles turrets, a
Nerds candy rope makes an interesting border.  I don't cover my cakes in
fondant but I do use it for decoration.  My favorite website is CakeCentral.com;
a fantastic place where other cake artists like myself can go for a multitude of
ideas and advice...not to mention a place to post our cake photos and show off
a little!
